ProteF allows to estimate the size of the safety zone of a pumping well through a chronologic criterion. Solution is obtained through by finite element method in case of multilayered soil characterized by variability of the hydrogeological parameter (Verruijt, 1993). Safety zones encircle all the points inside a reference isochrone, e.g. fixed by law.
